Travel is one of life’s greatest joys. Whether you’re jetting off solo, planning a family adventure, accommodating accessibility needs, or organising a business trip, having reliable information at your fingertips is priceless. I’m here to share global travel advice that’s practical, easy to follow, and tailored to help you navigate the exciting world of international journeys with confidence. Ready to dive in? Let’s go!
Why Solid Global Travel Advice Matters
Travel can be thrilling, but it also comes with its fair share of challenges. From visa requirements to health precautions, and from packing smart to understanding local customs, there’s a lot to keep in mind. Without trustworthy guidance, you might find yourself stuck in a confusing maze of information or, worse, facing unexpected hurdles abroad.
That’s why global travel advice is your best friend. It helps you:
Avoid common pitfalls
Save time and money
Stay safe and healthy
Make the most of your trip
Think of it as your travel compass, pointing you in the right direction every step of the way.
Planning Your Trip: The First Steps to Success
Before you even contact us for booking your holiday, there are some crucial steps to take. Here’s how to get started on the right foot:
Research Your Destination
Every country has its own rules, culture, and quirks. Spend time learning about:
Entry requirements (visas, passports, vaccinations)
Local laws and customs
Currency and tipping etiquette
Weather and best travel seasons
For example, if you’re heading to Japan, knowing about their bowing customs and cash-based economy can save you from awkward moments. Or Dubai their strict use of social media and even sending messages home regarding events and situations within the country.
Check Travel Advisories and Health Guidelines
Governments and health organisations often update travel advisories. These can include safety warnings, disease outbreaks, or political unrest. Always check official sources before you go, we will also check or know about these and will advise before we continue booking your holiday. That last thing we want is getting you excited about a holiday and not being able to go or enjoy your destination.
Book Smart and Secure
When booking flights and accommodation:
Make sure you know the space, being cramped on long flights makes the holiday start with tiredness and exhaustion which affects the rest of your holiday or on your return home - spending a little more for extra legroom or upgrade class can make a big difference.
Look for flexible cancellation policies, some flights can cost you a large amount if non-refundable or cancellation and mean affordability of future holiday(s).
Travel insurance is a must for any holiday or flights, look at our preferred partner or ask us about other partners for travel insurance BGB World Travel l JustTravel Cover l Travel Insurance
Booking early can snag you better deals, but last-minute offers sometimes pop up too. Keep your options open!

Packing Like a Pro: Essentials for Every Traveller
Packing can feel like a puzzle, but with a few tips, you’ll be ready for anything.
Make a Checklist
Start with the basics:
Passport and travel documents
Medications and prescriptions
Chargers and adapters
Weather-appropriate clothing
Comfortable shoes
Pack Light, Pack Right
Avoid overpacking by choosing versatile clothing that can mix and match. Roll your clothes to save space and reduce wrinkles. Don’t forget a reusable water bottle and a small first aid kit.
Accessibility and Special Needs
If you have accessibility requirements, plan ahead:
Contact airlines and hotels to confirm accommodations (We will help with this and contact hotels where necessary to ensure you get the right room)
Pack any necessary medical equipment and supplies (Often people forget the simple things for medication - antihistamines, anti-sickness tablets or creams for allergic reactions)
Research local accessibility options at your destination (Ability to move around and go on excursions or get around hotels may hamper your enjoyment)
Tech and Entertainment
Bring headphones, e-books, or downloaded movies for long journeys. A portable power bank is a lifesaver when you’re out exploring all day and they are useful afterwards. I always say make sure you drain the battery every couple of charges as this prolongs the lifespan.
Navigating Airports and Flights with Ease
Airports can be overwhelming, but a little preparation makes all the difference. If you need to transfer between flights, sometimes the time to get between gates can take longer than you expect especially in large international airports which can be on different floors or ends of an airport. Allow yourself at least 30 minutes between gates plus arrival and check-in times - 5 hours minimum would be a good time allowance from experience.
Arrive Early and Stay Organised
Aim to arrive at least 3 hours before international flights. Keep your documents handy and organised in a travel wallet or pouch. Airlines and airports open gates 2 hours before departure but consider an aeroplane can hold 350 passengers and all need to check baggage, tickets, passports at the check-in desk and maybe pay for overweight baggage which can take time. You will also want to have a wonder around the airport shops, get a drink or snack once you have got through check-in and then you have to find your gate and prepare, get excited for the start of your holiday.
Security Checks
Be ready to help get through security quickly and without delay, you may be randomly searched or require to be strip searched privately.
Wear easy-to-remove shoes, jackets, clothes and avoid wearing too much metal.
By 2028 airports hope to be back allowing larger liquid amounts through with hand luggage but you will have to put them in a clear bag on a tray - so be prepared and have this already packed to save time - small clear plastic toiletry bags, clear plastic small bottles for shampoo, bodywash or moisturiser etc can be purchased and helps clearing security quickly.
Some airports do not allow certain items of clothing when going through security, so make sure you have lightweight clothing and no metal on them - I have personally witnessed public having to remove jeans and walk through a scanner as the metal activated the scanner alarm!
If you have computers, power banks, mobile phones, tablets these will all need to be scanned and possibly even demonstrate that they work and safe to take on a flight. So make sure that they are fully charged to enable you to use at the security gate if necessary.
In-Flight Comfort
Stay hydrated, move around periodically, and bring a neck pillow or eye mask for better rest. If you’re travelling with children or have special needs, notify the airline in advance for assistance. Do not wear tight clothing, remember you will be sat in a position for several hours and your body swells while in an aircraft and in one position for periods of time. Anti-sickness tablets may be required due to the effects of the flight, height or even flight flu which can affect you afterwards (yes there is a thing as flight flu - causes dehydration, dry sinuses, vomiting, nausea etc). Maybe due to the noise of passengers or the aircraft, ear plugs or headphones could be a good small item to pack.

Staying Safe and Healthy Abroad
Your wellbeing is key to enjoying your trip. Here’s how to stay on top of it:
Health Precautions
Get recommended vaccinations well before departure - some destinations require you to have booster injections or take medication for period of time before arrive. Check out:
Carry hand sanitiser and masks if needed - Some Asian countries require these as mandatory use.
Drink bottled or filtered water in countries when abroad, most countries do not have the same hygiene standards as the United Kingdom.
Personal Safety
Keep valuables secure and avoid flashing expensive items, get a body bag to keep things safe and less accessible when you are walking around destinations and tours. They are great when you do not have enough pockets and can be secured even more with small padlocks or extra safety chains.
Use hotel safes for passports and extra cash - check with your hotel security codes and maybe how to change them for your use. If none in the room, ask at reception if they have some safe storage while you are out of your room or hotel.
Be mindful of your surroundings and trust your instincts. Some shops may appear to be simply selling goods, but they might also be attempting to scam you by charging more than what locals pay. Additionally, they may observe what you have and where you keep it, and have people who will steal from you once you leave them and you are not aware of those surrounding you.
Emergency Contacts
Save local emergency numbers and the contact details of your country’s embassy or consulate along with your personal emergency contact back home in an easy to find contact on your phone or written down along with your personal documents. Should anything happen, then emergency services or embassy / consulate in the country can get in touch with relatives and family.
Having travel insurance with medical coverage is necessary, it can cost thousands of pounds for medical care while you are on holiday. Ensure that you advise the travel insurance of any pre-existing or new medical conditions before you travel as this can null and void your travel insurance should you require any assistance while travelling.
Making the Most of Your Trip:
Tips for a Memorable Experience
Travel is about more than just ticking off sights. It’s about connection, discovery, and joy.
Embrace Local Culture
Try local foods, learn a few phrases in the native language, and participate in cultural events. This enriches your experience and shows respect to your hosts, it also helps make a bond with representatives in the hotel or restaurant.
Stay Flexible
Sometimes plans change. Flights get delayed, weather shifts, or attractions close unexpectedly. Keep a positive attitude and have backup options. If you are on an excursion not organised by your holiday or cruise company and you have to be back for certain time make sure that the excursion company are aware and will change their plans should anything delay them and get you back on time - Cruise ships will not wait for you, they have a plan to keep to themselves and destinations to be at and sometimes the weather can affect this too - be prepared to maybe get a taxi back if necessary!
Capture Memories
Take photos, keep a travel journal, or collect small souvenirs. These will bring your adventures to life long after you return home and help share memories with friends and family when you visit. You may inspire them to go on holiday where you were or join you on your next holiday and make more memories!
Connect with Others
Whether it’s fellow travellers or locals, conversations can open doors to hidden gems and new friendships. Some friendships can inspire more travel to different destinations or plan future travel together later.
